[PeterPaul.ca] — An explosion has rocked the diplomatic quarter in Kabul, Afghanistan, PeterPaul.ca confirmed Saturday. Our stringer in Kabul, Abdullah Aziz, confirmed the blast.
“I cannot tell [if] anyone is dead or injured,” he said. “I’m on the way [to the blast site].”
Voice communication was disconnected in mid-conversation and attempts to reconnect with Aziz were not successful. Wire reports indicate cell phone networks were inoperative in the immediate aftermath of the explosion.
The Associated Press, citing Afghan defense ministry officials, reported the explosion was caused by a car bomb.
