LOS ANGELES [Peter Paul Media] — Actress Brittany Murphy died at home after suffering cardiac arrest at the age of 32, officials told Peter Paul Media on Sunday.
Cedar-Sinai Medical Center spokeswoman Sally Stewart confirmed Murphy’s time of death at “10:04 a.m. Pacific Time” on Sunday. “I cannot provide additional details,” she said.
The LAPD also confirmed they are investigating but details were limited. “The LAPD is conducting a death investigation. That’s all I can say,” an official said. In an email, L.A. County Coroner spokesman Craig Harvey said that an autopsy would be conducted “within the next two days.”
Celebrity website TMZ.com said Murphy was found in her husbands home early Sunday, by her mother, suffering from complete cardiac arrest. Efforts to revive her on the way to hospital failed and she was pronounced dead at hospital.
Murphy was married to British screenwriter Simon Monjack — who was captured by TMZ photographers returning to the family home after Murphy’s death was officially announced. The late actress starred in such films as 8 Mile, Clueless and was the voice of Luanne on the long-running Fox cartoon, King of the Hill.
Ashton Kutcher, who briefly dated Murphy in 2003, said “2day the world lost a little piece of sunshine. My deepest condolences go out 2 Brittany’s family, her husband, & her amazing mother Sharon,” via his Twitter page: “See you on the other side kid.”
