Senior “executed” while sitting in parked van

TORONTO [Peter Paul Media] — Toronto police are searching for two suspects after a shooting in the Morecambe Gate and Chester Le Boulevard area on Wednesday night, when a 70-year-old male was shot dead while sitting in the passenger seat of a parked van.

The victim, pronounced dead at the scene, was identified as Alva Dixon of Scarborough. He is survived by his wife and three, older children, media reports said.

The other male, who is unidentified, was shot while sitting in the drivers seat and received non-life threatening injuries, police said. Both men were smoking cigarettes and drinking beer just prior to the shooting, Homicide Detective Jason Shankaran said Thursday.

In a surveillance video released by police, a suspect is seen approaching the rear of a dark-coloured van before walking up to the passenger window, pulling out a gun and shooting Dixon dead.

Detective Shankaran said two subjects were involved–one who did the shooting and another who kept watch and then fled across the parking lot with the shooter afterwards. Descriptions were unavailable but police released two photographs [Below] showing two people wanted for identification relating to Dixon’s murder.

The Toronto Star reported that the homicide occurred at 51 Morecambe Gate–a TCHC building which has seen at least six homicides since 1990 involving a firearm.

Police are investigating Dixon’s homicide under case number 2016-0032002 and urged the public to come forward with any information. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-7400 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
