[Peter Paul Media] — Toronto police have made an arrest in connection with the 24th homicide of 2016, less than a week after shots rang out at the busy intersection of Yonge and Bloor.
Police charged 22-year-old Bradley Cheveldayoff of Toronto with the second-degree murder 18-year-old Gabriel Nikov, a student at Central Toronto Academy, a spokesperson for the Toronto District School Board told Peter Paul Media on Friday.
Cheveldayoff was scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
Startled witnesses reported seeing three people flee the scene shortly after 8 p.m. on Wednesday but descriptions only included their outer wear.
“We will help your Mom through this,” a friend wrote on Nikov’s Facebook page. “Your friends came. Maybe 30 of them. They were beautiful and heartbroken and they tried to comfort your Mom and it helped a lot that they were there.”
