[PeterPaul.ca] — Toronto police announced an arrest in connection with the 24th homicide of 2016 less than a week after shots rang out at the busy intersection of Yonge and Bloor, killing one.
Police charged 22-year-old Bradley Cheveldayoff of Toronto, arrested Sunday, with second-degree murder and he was scheduled to make a court appearance on Monday.
Police earlier identified the victim as 18-year-old Gabriel Nikov, a student at Central Toronto Academy, a spokesperson for the Toronto District School Board told PeterPaul.ca on Friday.
Startled witnesses reported seeing three persons of interest flee the scene shotly after 8 p.m. on Wednesday but descriptions only included their outer wear.
“We will help your Mom through this,” a friend wrote on Nikov’s Facebook page.
“Your friends came. Maybe 30 of them. They were beautiful and heartbroken and they tried to comfort your Mom and it helped a lot that they were there.”
