Toronto man charged after Yonge-Bloor shooting

[Peter Paul. Media] —  Toronto police have made an arrest in connection with the 24th homicide of 2016, less than a week after shots rang out at the busy intersection of Yonge and Bloor.

Police charged 22-year-old Bradley Cheveldayoff of Toronto with the second-degree murder 18-year-old Gabriel Nikov, a student at Central Toronto Academy, a spokesperson for the Toronto District School Board told on Friday.

Cheveldayoff was scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

Startled witnesses reported seeing three people flee the scene shortly after 8 p.m. on Wednesday but descriptions only included their outer wear.

“We will help your Mom through this,” a friend wrote on Nikov’s Facebook page. “Your friends came. Maybe 30 of them. They were beautiful and heartbroken and they tried to comfort your Mom and it helped a lot that they were there.”
